WORSHIP RENEWS AND RESETS OUR PERSPECTIVE

“THEREFORE, I URGE YOU, BROTHERS, IN VIEW OF GOD’S MERCY, TO OFFER YOUR BODIES AS LIVING SACRIFICES, HOLY AND PLEASING TO GOD – THIS IS YOUR SPIRTUAL ACT OF WORSHIP.”

Romans 12:1

I had to catch my breath the first time “In view of God’s mercy” jumped off the page at me!

The beauty of this verse should produce worship. This is Jesus thinking. This Word directs our view and focus on God’s mercy! Otherwise, we would have no hope. To live life as living sacrifices requires mercy. We have to see that living as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God requires first focusing on His mercy. Worship follows those who live in constant view of God’s mercy! Those who live “Mercy focused” worship God in spirit and truth. Jesus lived and spoke “Mercy focused”!

The scripture that follows this verse is the one you’ve been expecting. Here we go…

“DO NOT COMFORM ANY LONGER TO THE PATTERN OF THIS WORLD, BUT BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND. THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TEST AND APPROVE WHAT GOD’S WILL IS -HIS GOOD, PLEASING AND PERFECT WILL.”

Romans 12:2

Breaking Rank with the patterns of this world requires both His mercy and His truth. Mercy and Truth set us up to transform the way we think. The pattern of this world lacks both.

God’s mercy is transformational. The patterns of this world are the patterns Jesus contradicted.

If mercy is the view point of a renewed mind, truth is the liberating force that seals the deal.  Truth breaks the hold of Satan’s assignments and lies over our lives. A renewed mind takes us to a place where God’s wisdom and understanding materialize the God-kind of faith.

Just changing the way we think from one way to another way, is not the charge in Romans 12. The charge is to transform our thought life based on divine Truth. We can’t get there without His mercy. Breaking Rank with the patterns of this world allows us to take Romans 12 one step further. Verse 3 Think of yourselves with sober judgment in accordance with the measure of faith God has given us.

THE CHALLENGE: LIVE LIFE IN FULL VIEW OF HIS MERCY AND THE MEASURE OF FAITH GIVEN YOU.
