“INSTINCTIVELY CREATIVE AND COURAGEOUS PEOPLE EXCEED THE PERIMETERS OF WHERE THEY’VE BEEN”  Carl Lenz, Hillsong Church Pastor, New York City

8 BENEFITS OF REACHING OUT TO OTHERS; REACHING OUT DOES THE FOLLOWING:

R – RE-ORIENTS US  Reaching out re-orients us to a fuller perspective of the world around us and a fuller perception of ourselves in that world. James 1:27 commands us to be doers of the Word, not just hearers. We are purposed to be distributors in life not old school reservoirs of cataloged experiences and information.

E – ENGAGES US  Reaching out engages us to intentionally connect with people that are nothing like us. Jesus did. Engaged, we learn to not only connect but to converse. Often, there evolves a conversion in our relationship with unlikely people and even a collaboration!

A – AWAKENS US  Reaching out is powerful because it not only re-orients us and engages us, but awakens us to the needs of others, and the value we can add to them by just being us! Our world view is broadened and we are refreshed.

C – CHALLENGES US  We don’t know everything! Reaching out connects us with people whose experiences are beyond our pay-grade! We are challenged to research and find ways to meet their needs. We flip our attention from what’s been consuming us. We dig deeper.

H – HUMBLES US  Reaching out usually comes to a point where those we’ve reached move on. It follows that we reach out to new opportunities. This handoff is humbling but necessary. We change. They change. Lives are changed and that’s the point.

I – INVESTS US  Investing into ourselves for future collaborations becomes our new normal. If nothing fresh is flowing in us emotionally, intellectually, or spiritually, we become stagnate. Stagnation leads back to isolation. Learn to invest in yourself, to be ready to help others.

N – NURTURES US  When reaching out becomes our new normal, we lean into conversations with complete strangers. Doing so becomes what nourishes us. Reaching out then becomes our lifestyle. We feed on it! It completes us.

G – GRACES US  Reaching out activates the true meaning of grace. From Strong’s Concordance we gain this definition from the original Greek: Grace – God’s divine influence on the heart and its reflection in the life. Living under the divine influence of God’s grace should always be reflective in our lives. Slowly we learn that it is Grace’s reflection that moves us to reach out!
