One of the truths that have greatly influenced me to think like Jesus is from John 16.

Verse 7 “But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away, Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.”

This promise is about the Holy Spirit. Paul writes in Romans 8:15-16

“… that we did not receive a spirit that makes us a slave again to fear, but we received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children…”

The Holy Spirit was sent by Jesus to father us as His Father’s children. The fathering of the Holy Spirit is powerful and relationship focused. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

John 16:8 tells us three ways the Holy Spirit fathers us:

“When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness & judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me: in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment because the prince of this world now stands condemned.”

THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS BELIEVERS OF THREE THINGS:

1 – SIN! Why? So, we will be believe in Jesus. Result: We live by Faith, as God intended!

2 – Righteousness because Jesus went to His Father. Result: Righteousness!

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

II Corinthians 5:21

3 – Judgement because Satan stands defeated and condemned. Result: Victory over sin & Satan.

  • We need a healthy conviction that we are forgiven and live by faith.
  • We need a healthy conviction that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
  • We need a healthy conviction that victory over Satan was accomplished in Christ.

STAKING OUT THESE 3 MINDSETS IS A GAME CHANGER EVERY BELIEVER NEEDS TO PRACTICE!
