THE ONLY WAY TO RESOLUTELY BECOME YOURSELF IS TO TRANSFORM THE WAY YOU THINK
Jesus was unwaveringly Himself on planet earth, God on a mission…Resolutely in pursuit of securing our salvation. It took me 20 years to grasp my need to personally make Him Lord!
Before making Jesus Lord, I adlibbed my way through life. Consumed with inferiority, I made second best choices, hung out with mediocre people and settled for hand-me-down faith and sucked up hear-say information as if it were Gospel truth. At every turn, I saw myself defeated.
Making Jesus Lord of my life was the first radical move I ever made. Like, I gave Him everything and got out the way to see what He would do with me. I came to believe that I was “fearfully and wonderfully made” because He said so in Psalm 139:13-18! I got excited over the idea that ‘all the days ordained for me were written in His book before one of them came to be.’ Radical!
I put Him in charge, got off the throne of my life and determined to follow and serve Him for the rest of my life. Immediately, I decided to read His book. That’s when the magic happened. I devoured the New Testament from Matthew straight through to Revelation. I changed. Old mindsets began to drop off like dirty laundry ready for the wash. I broke rank with my old mindsets and defeated attitudes. I resolutely began to become who He had always intended.
I underlined in my Bible and made notes in the margins. I circled verses that I wanted to dig into. I saw Jesus in a different light and began to discover that He thought differently than I did.
It was like I marched right off the map of my past and into a whole new world. I was hooked.
In small ways I began to think like Jesus did. My faith initiated a fresh vision for my life without yesterday’s limitations. Anyone can think like Jesus if they want to. Yes, they will have to resolutely pursue Him. But His Word and the Holy Spirit stand ready when we’re ready.
Breaking Rank from the way the world thinks, means going A.W.O.L. from the world’s limited way of thinking. Changing how we think, changes how we act. Crazy, I know, but this is the way the followers of Jesus always changed their world. They Broke Rank. They began to think like Jesus! They devoured the letters of the early apostles. Living for Jesus became personal.
